Inaugural webinar on relevance of Alternate Dispute Resolution in Contemporary Phase

On 27th September 2020, in light of the growing importance of Alternate Dispute Resolution mechanisms in contemporary times, the ADR Cell of the University School of Law and Legal Studies conducted an inaugural webinar on the topic of the relevance of Alternate Dispute Resolution.

This webinar was conducted with the aim of sensitizing students about the different ways to access justice and augment the knowledge and practical skills of the ADR system.

Mr. Dushyant Dave (Senior Advocate at the Supreme Court of India) and Mr. Thomas P. Valenti (Conflict Resolution Specialist in Chicago) were the Guests of Honour.

The webinar commenced with the ADR Cell representative expounding on the aim and vision of the Cell as a student-driven organization striving to update the skills of future lawyers and making them ready for the upcoming challenges. The ADR Cell has been established with the intent of being an interactive platform for both students and teachers alike, to have robust discussions on emerging ADR techniques and thier application in the Indian scenario.

This webinar was graced by two eminent personalities, Mr. Dushyant Dave and Mr. Thomas P. Valenti. Mr. Dave carries a wide experience, as the former President of the Supreme Court Bar Association and a veteran member of the Bar. He is also a distinguished member of many international arbitration councils. Mr. Valenti is a lawyer, mediator, chartered arbitrator, facilitator, mentor, and AAA neutral who specializes in alternative conflict resolution. The attendees took full advantage of the opportunity that had been presented to them and asked various questions relating to ADR and its scope and applicability, fulfilling the purpose of this event.

This interactive session was concluded with the deliverance of the vote of thanks by Ms. Vandana Singh, Faculty coordinator of the ADR Cell.
