Swaraj is my birthright and I shall have it…

For the last 73 years, the 26th day of January commemorates the spirit of an independent, individual, and self-reliant India. On this day, the highest spirit of freedom submits tribute to the freedom fighters and the nation’s torchbearers for paving the way for a sacred text which enshrines the welfare of billions. On this occasion, the Constitution Club, Directorate of Student Welfare, GGS IP University organised a webinar on 26th January 2022 through the virtual platform Zoom. The event commenced with a welcoming note from Prof. Amar Pal Singh, the Dean of USLLS, GGSIPU and was graced with the esteemed presence of Dr Pradeep Rai, Senior Advocate, Supreme court of India & Vice President, SCBA disseminating knowledge on the topic “Fundamentality of Part- III and Part-IV of the Indian Constitution”. The participants obtained a holistic delivery of the imperative nature of Part-III & Part-IV of the constitution with due reference to historical anecdotes highlighting the message of Freedom of Speech and Expression, Equality before Law, Rule of Law, as well as the stance of the public, and the authorities.

His reference to the insertion of provisions and rules regulating human behaviour, as he asserts, finds actuality in the practice of a layman that extends to the formation of the constitution as an asset, which is not fully utilized in the day-to-day practices of the citizens. He further discussed the significance of the fundamental duties of a young lawyer and para-legal volunteers towards serving society. Towards the end of the event, the attendees absorbed that the supremacy of the constitution contends the say of majority at par with the basic pillars of the constitution which give recognition to human interests and dignify them as citizens. The participants also received appreciation with the hand of a participation certificate. Lastly, the event was concluded by a vote of thanks given by Dr. Zubair A Khan, faculty coordinator.
